“As a practice, Yoga is more than physical exercises. It works on many levels, from the physical state to the mental, emotional and spiritual planes. It as about cultivating a path to a place of inner peace and security that sustains us regardless of external circumstances. So I feel that my role as a teacher of Yoga is to open paths for students to develop and maintain a state of centered, calm focus in an ever-changing world.”

About Dea

Dea’s approach is to help make Yoga a relevant experience for each student. She has a diverse teaching background.

Dea is registered at the highest level of Yoga Alliance Registry, E-RYT500.

She is a member of the International Association of Yoga Therapists and published an article in their 2002 annual Journal.

She has taught classes, workshops and private sessions in Western Colorado since 1995 and has studied Yoga for 30 years. Dea has also been published in the Fibromyalgia Health Letter.

Her training has been influenced by the therapeutic approach of Iyengar teachers Judith Lasater and Elise Miller, and the intuitive teachings of Angela Farmer and Donna Farhi (author,The Breathing Book). She is constantly studying new methods of the ancient practice of Yoga for the benefit of her students, her greatest inspiration.

In April of 2010 Dea was certified at LEVEL ONE in BioSomatics, which is a form of Neuromuscular Movement Education. With 62 contact training hours in Somatics, she is now offering this work as an integrated part of both yoga classes and private therapy sessions. Biosomatic movement re-education is very effective in relieving pain from both repetitive use and traumatic injuries. Dea is excited about having this certification and will be studying to move up to the next level in 2011.
